Creativity is part of our nature; we, not the ostrich, have been given the ability to create. God breathes life into our dusty forms. His Spirit, hovers over us, calling to the depths and leading us into abundant living. We are creative because we are made in God’s image.” ~ Alice Bass, The Creative Life

According to Bass, if we’re to enjoy a creative life and experience more of Christ’s inspiration, we need to experience less of our own inhibitions, fears, and sin patterns. How does this translate for you? What blocks your creative flow?

    For me it is too much stress and no outlet for that stress(walking daily for example).I am currently back in atrial fibrillation(I have had 3 bouts of it since May 2002).I have been successfully cardioverted twice.But when I go into a-fib walking much becomes difficult as I must not allow my heart rate to get too high…UGH…I found I was way more creative and prolific with my BLOG for instance when I was able to walk daily and for a long time at the gym.A-fib(my current bout)has made me cranky and uncreatve I feel.Lord willing I will not have another bout with it and will be cardioverted soon.This was a great post Vicki…
    Love,Sharon :-)

    Hi Vicki, is this your other site, if so yes I’ve been here and I have it bookmarked and listed in my Faith pages. When it comes to writing what holds me back is my lack of faith in myself to say something that is what other’s would want to read. I haven’t the command of the language well enough or the ability to put the words together like say you do. I mean look at your about, “Writing through the chapters of life while sipping on the broth of experience. That is just so beautiful! Thank you for a wonderful site that helps those of us who aspire to write. I have found a wealth of resources and inspiration. I would like to email you now and then for I enjoy your friendship very much too. God Bless.

    hmmm

    what blocks my creative flow?

    I need to take time to pray - enjoy nature - play piano - practise harp - read - write - think.

    I need to be alone at times - and that can be difficult in the busyness of life. But not impossible. It’s a matter of carving out time.

    Everybody is creative in their own way, I truly believe that…we are all unique!

    I just found your blog and it’s VERY interesting…if you stop by mine anytime soon…you’ll see my kids in the adventure of planting their very first vegetable garden and hopefully in a few days I’ll be able to post them planting their own flowers too!!! LOL
    Hope that you can find the time to come by my blog site and please post a comment when you do…I like for those who visit my site to let me know they’ve been there :) (you will need to 1. register (FREE), on the right side of my site before you post…this is just to make your visits more personalized, etc. and then 2. click “Leave Your Comments” back at the regular part of my site on any comments that interests you, and then 3. “Post Reply” once the comments page comes up and type your comment).

    I’ll try to visit your site regularly and hope that you visit mine as well! :) God Bless! :)

    I think fear blocks my creative flow. I fear creating situations about which I know nothing, or very little. I am afraid to give a character a certain career because it is something I don’t understand.

    I wonder if simple research is good enough to create people and scenes. Will what I say (after doing research) be good enough so that someone in that situation or with that particular job say, “Yes! You have hit the nail on the head!”

    Sharon, thanks for sharing that. I’d like to pray for you. I struggled with tachycardia for a year before we discovered a medication had become toxic to my cardiovascular system. It was a scary time–I can only imagine what you’re going through. Keep me posted. {{Hugs}}

    Nancze, thanks for visiting again! And thanks for your kind words. Your words always bless me deeply, and your website is but one example of your many creative talents and gifts. God bless you, my friend. Looking forward to more from you!

    Jessica, glad you found me, and welcome! Yep, we’re all creative in different ways. I believe that. Will check out your site as soon as I can. Blessings!
