“Our life is frittered away by detail. . . simplify, simplify.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

I’m trying to simplify my life. Why? Because I’m learning that an uncluttered and de-stressed life lends itself to more fruitfulness. Still, I can’t do this on my own.
To enjoy the craft of writing, ministry, and home business, as well as caring for the needs of family and self, requires a few priorities. Too many times growing frustration has hammered away at my creativity, a pretty good indication that something’s amiss. So if I need to do it, I re-prioritize and pare away distractions: TV, newsletters, radio, social media - even email. I don’t read every book that hits the bestseller list, just because someone recommends it. That’s not to say I don’t utilize these things. I do, but in a limited sort of way.
More than eliminating distractions, I need Christ to be my daily portion. His life flows and directs and enables as I’m resting securely in His Spirit. Life needn’t be a rat race! He puts all things in balance and supplies the energy we need to do His will. Like Mama used to say, “Don’t run around like a chicken with your head cut off!”… which is how it feels when life gets crazy. Thankfully, the Lord helps me identify those needless expenditures of time that keep me bound and unproductive.
To choose Christ, in all His simplicity and grace, is to allow Him to move us incrementally towards a healthier, simpler, grace-filled life. He not only unravels us from the fray, but increases our desire for Him, our daily Provision. ~

I understand what you mean about simplifying. I’ve been working at decluttering my home. It’s fun though, at the same time, because it feels more “homey” AND you get to help others when you donate your stuff.

i am agree with you. sometimes all thins keep us away from Him, and this is really unhealthy for our life. Prioritize something is important to make us divide which one is stated in “must to do” and which one is “merely fun”. Thank you for your sharing.

Denise, thanks for popping over. I’m still decluttering…it’s the only way I can function;-)
Devita, thanks for your thoughts. Life has a way of crowding Him out, but God enables me to function in the first place, and He surely helps me prioritize, too.
