“When this little life is over, nearly all that makes the headlines in the newspapers or fills the bulletins on the radio will seem to be of purely temporary significance. But the work of those who have cooperated with God will remain, for it is part of his everlasting purpose.” ~ J.B. Phillips

This quote reminds me of something marvelous. As writers surrendered to God, we trust that He uses our writing for His purposes.

So let’s ask ourselves: Are we cooperating with Him, or following a trend? Are we renewing our minds with truth, or reading only materials that appeal to our senses?

To cooperate with God is to realize our desperate need for His enablement as we cleave. And yet He keeps us. Through His Holy Spirit, we’re moved and motivated. We enjoy productivity and security because we trust His timing and purpose for us.

Better yet, we trust in Him.

    Actually, I hadn’t really thought of that “reading only materials that appeal to our senses” before. You’ve given me something to think about. Sometimes, when I read, I read to learn about different writing styles so I guess you could say I read for technical purposes. Most of my reading is non-fiction. Every once in a while, I’ll pick up a fiction book but I do my best to pick one out that has Christian values. I’m not into reading all that dark stuff that’s out there.

    Hey Denise,

    Thanks for responding. I ought to clarify. Speaking from a Christian perspective, it’s important to also spend time in the bible, renewing our minds with truth and letting God shape our hearts instead of man. Like you, I read to learn, and mostly nonfiction, too. Appreciate your input, my friend.

    Vicki, I was just checking to see if I had commented or not. (My dd’s birthday sleepover woke me up and I couldn’t get back to sleep right away.)Then, I noticed your comment. If you’ve been commenting to my comments in these sections, I apologize for not seeing any of them. I just figured most people that followed up with a comment did so at the person’s blog. Oh dear! I hope I haven’t offended you. I honestly didn’t see any comments you have made other than the ones you have put on my blog.

    Hey Denise ~ No problem, friend…that’s quite alright. Hope you weren’t offended that I didn’t answer back at your blog each time. I sure do appreciate your feedback, and appreciate the time and effort you’ve taken to visit. Sometimes things get so busy here, it’s hard for me to catch up with comments at both blogs…lol…I’ll try to do better. {{hugs}}
