A busy week at the Gaines cottage, preparing for Christmas Tea with my girls.
Today I leave with you a couple quotes about the artistic temperament. See what you think. The artist is often described as sensitive, analytical, melancholy, and moody on the one hand, but also easily moved by hypocrisy, injustice, and suffering. More on this later; I think the world needs artists:
“Everyone with an artistic temperament has been told at some point in his or her life to develop a thicker skin. That’s nonsense! The world doesn’t need more thick-skinned people. It needs more people who are sensitive and tender.” ~ Rory Noland
“”We learn from the artists, from those who work in paint or words, or musical notes, from those who have eyes that see and ears that hear and hearts that feel deeply and passionately about all that is sacred and dear to God.” ~ Ken Gire

I agree the world does need artists, but even our best work is such a poor reflection of the work of the greatest artist, our Heavenly Father. He is both sensitive and thick skinned, mayhaps it is all in the balance. God has so much to teach all of us artists, don’t you think…….
P.S. Found the Christmas decorations and we hosted our first dinner in our new to us place. Soon I shall be able to truly call it home, 30 years in one house makes this one so very strange to host or decorate or even sit in, but I think it shall soon look like ours and that we belong here.

Hi Iris, you made an excellent point! The world needs artists & the artist needs God. Nice to hear you’ve hosted your first dinner already! It takes awhile to break a house in and call it home, doesn’t it? With a little time, and your own personal touch, your new-to-you house will become home. (change is harder for me, now that I’m older…how about you?) I do hope your Christmas in the new place is warm and memorable. Thank you for keeping me posted on your progress there. I enjoy reading your updates! Merry Christmas!

It’s nice to hear someone say something positive above artists for a change.
